Over this past weekend I started to get very fatigued so I called Overlook to do some bloodwork and low and behold my Hemoglobin was down to 6.2. Very low! They gave me two bags of blood and off I went home.
That night and the next day (Tuesday) I became extremely short of breath to the point that I couldn’t even do my daily activities let alone walk from one room to another. This was accompanied by a cough as well.
To top that off, I also noticed a bump on my chest directly above my heart.
OK – enough bad stuff. We went down to see Dr. G at Penn a day earlier than scheduled out of concern.
Dr. G thinks this may be TACO or transfusion associated circulatory overload. He prescribed some lasix to help get rid of the excess fluid and I will be back on the anti fungal home IV that we stopped on Saturday.
We also did a CT scan of the chest today and an ultrasound of my legs which showed no blood clots.
As for the chest bump, he believes it is a plasmacytoma. We did a biopsy and will radiate it.
Silver lining is that I am on my way home and wasn’t admitted to the hospital.
That’s the news. Still short of breath and coughing. Should pass in a few days according to Dr. G
Keep plugging away! You can go it. Sending more energy and unconditional love. xoxo
Hang in there Brad. My favorite quote to my son, and which I now share with you as well: “You never know how strong you are, until being strong is the only choice you have”. You are after all, Bradstrong!
“Though he may stumble, he will not fall for the Lord upholds him with His hand.” Psalm 37:24. Keeping you in prayer and asking God to hold you and your family, comfortably and warmly in the strength and warmth of his love and compassion. Keep posting and letting us know how you are.
Hang in there, Brad. You are amazing…and have so much to live for. Even with two steps forward and one step back you are still getting ahead.
